Was the foreclosure you're buying winterized properly?

A couple months back I sold a client a foreclosure. He bought the home so he could flip the property. While doing the home inspection we found the house was not winterized properly and the HVAC system was ruined. The bank had hired a contractor several weeks before to winterize the home. Even though the home was sold "as is", the bank agreed to fix the broken HVAC system.

When buying a bank owned property that has been winterized, get the HVAC system checked. Ask your agent to request that the bank pay for the de-winterization, many banks will do this. But please keep in mind the home will need to be winterized again. You do not want to risk something happening to the property. Here in Northern Virginia, it can be 60 degrees one day and snowing the next.
